Helping your child actually enjoy the dentist

Bring your child in before there's a problem. A first visit with no procedure, just a look around and a friendly chat, sets the tone for everything after.

Avoid words like 'hurt', 'shot', or 'drill', even reassuringly. Kids absorb the anxious energy behind the word more than the reassurance.

Let them ask questions and touch the tools (safely) before we start. Curiosity beats fear almost every time.

Keep visits short and celebrate afterward, regardless of how it went. The goal is a good memory, not a perfect one.

Model it yourself: kids who see a parent calmly get a cleaning tend to be calmer themselves.
